To turn to Jesus is never turning to pacifism or escapism. Christians have always been first and foremost fighting against oppression and bloodshed. Christians—not nationalists, racists, colonialists—are history’s peacemakers. Because of Jesus. We belong to Kingdom of God.

Jerry Falwell hawked his Moral Majority. Ralph Reed hawked his Christian Coalition. Marvin Olasky hawked his Compassionate Conservatism. None built the Kingdom of God.
So now men are hawking Christian Nationalism. Politics is not the arena in which the Kingdom of God is built.
What the Church today is lacking is men and women who will publicly confess their Christian faith in all its gnarly Biblical particularities. God’s law is dangerous. By comparison, politics is safe.
Jesus Himself said, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.” So then, covered by His authority, specifically what are we to do?
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations.”

Just watched Gaffigan and Trump’s Al Smith dinner speeches. For a charity dinner hosted by and for Roman Catholics, NO ONE was speaking truth. Not a word for the unborn spoken, but plenty of praise for Melania’s new book.
