Disturbing as the James MacDonald revelations are, what is more disturbing is to see Christianity Today defending him.
Sobering and sad. I think I am safe from celebrity status for now, but it is a good cautionary tale.

Yes, becoming a rock star in the church is so detrimental to all involved because the standard is no longer being godly, its being a rock star. I’m not sure how many men can actually handle the fame. Definitely not James MacDonald. Just from the few videos I’ve seen of him, one in which he boasted of the number of satellite campuses he had, he didn’t come across as very spiritually mature.
As pastors, I think our marching orders are clearly given by John the Baptist, “He must increase, I must decrease.”
