… Pastors don’t need to write books and get famous and rich. We need to forget fame and fortune, returning to our calling to teach our Lord’s lambs.
What I have seen, more than a few times, is senior pastors concentrate on teaching or church administration - and leave the job of the pastoring, and all the stress that that comes with, to their second-in-charge clergy or elders; for the simple reason that they like teaching, but they really don’t like being shepherds, especially if they end up smelling of the sheep. This needs to be challenged.

One of my late fathers in the faith was told repeatedly ‘you should write a book.’
His response: ‘I respect books.’
