The Lion King (2019)

New Warhorn Media post by Nathan Alberson:

I really enjoyed this film and want to disagree with you guys so much, but I think I agree with you on most points.

For me the realism of it was strange and took some time to get used to, but the beauty of it made me enjoy it. It felt like a mix of watching an Attenborough doc and rewatching my favourite childhood film. Two things I enjoy doing! Also, I think the different feel that came from the realism caught me off guard and made the story hit home harder than it would have done if it was another cartoon. I cried when Mufasa was trying to save Simba, and I almost never cry at films.

As you said, though, the casting and soundtrack were fantastic. Except for Be Prepared I thought every song was brilliant. That’s what made it for me. If someone’s a fan of the first one I would highly recommend they go see this!
