Thank you for this, very sobering.
How easy it is to resist the Spirit. Always starts the moment we depart from His Word. But we will make all sorts of arguments in our minds convincing ourselves we are really being faithful to Him, after all we’ve not abandoned His Gospel or His Church, we are serving His Gospel and Church!
The worst deception is self-deception. It’s one thing to be violated by another man, far worse to violate yourself.

Victimhood is the currency of 21st century American life. If we want to get out of this mess, some dads are going to have to start saying “no” to a wide variety of sob stories.
Slightly changing topics, the late great Voddie Baucham once asked, why, if sports build character, don’t elite athletes have more character than anyone? That seems like a good question when things like this happen.

Agreed … and we need to make sure that we don’t “play the victim” ourselves when things go awry or don’t go our way.
