I agree with @jacob.mentzel’s take 1000%.

That father scene gets me every time.

Overall, this movie has so much care and love poured into it, and it’s obvious. So many little things that add up.

Some a few examples:

  • When the news reports are talking about Spider-man’s death, you can see Miles’ dad put his hand to his mouth in genuine shock after the Peter Parker reveal. He’s not gloating.
  • When the spider bites Miles, we are ready for a big reaction because we know something that Miles’ doesn’t…but he just flicks it off as a minor annoyance.
  • “Oh great, it’s Liv” spoken by Aunt May.

When I saw this movie in theaters, it did something that no movie in a long time has been able to do: it surprised me. The reveal of Doc Ock took me completely off guard. And I was expecting a Doc Ock reveal at some point.

What a great movie. Probably the best new movie I’ve seen in the past 10 years (though my sample size is small)
