I like when you talk about Sorkin, because I have such a love/hate relationship with him.
Sorkin’s first TV show, Sports Night, is probably one of my favorite pieces of entertainment of all time. If you haven’t seen it, I’d recommend it. It’s Sorkin at his best, and since the context is sports, it reigns in his self-important pretentiousness.
My wife and I rewatch it every couple of years, and it always hits.

That’s one of the few things by him I haven’t seen. I’ll have to give it a try.
Looks like Sports Night is streaming free on IMDB TV (everyone has their own streaming service now).
The first season has an obviously tacked-on laugh track that doesn’t fit. It’s clear the network didn’t really know how to deal with the show.
But it gradually fades away and is almost gone before the end of the 1st season.
