a note at the beginning of his exposition of the first four councils explains that Bullinger’s purpose in looking at these councils is to prove that the Reformation church was simply trying to recover that theology and practice of the New Testament and the early church. Nothing new or radical here. Just what Christians have always believed
Excellent, Aaron. Back in the mid-nineties, we started an Institutes reading group. Met in a home near campus and averaged at least twenty-five. Almost all were students, both undergrad and grad. It was a great thing to do, I saw at the time and still see. I mention this because we started the weekly study with several weeks on the church councils and creeds, and did so for precisely the reason you mention above. Love,
