I guess my brother and I were unusual (I was born in '82). We loved Pocahontas and even named one of our cats Meeko! 🤷😊

Would you still like it now though?

I watched it about a year ago with my oldest and I still enjoyed it, my favorite things being the music and the love story. I still thought the humor with the animals was great. Considering they can’t talk, I though it was pretty good. Sure, as an adult I saw many of the problems you bring up, but it didn’t really take away my enjoyment of it. Guess nostalgia won out!

I love your ideas about changing the goal of the antagonist from gold to slave labor although that sounds like a much more mature movie. For a kids movie, simple greed for gold might register with them better?

I wonder if women end up liking this movie more than men…

Most of the objections I’ve heard have been from women, for what that’s worth.
