New Warhorn Media post by Aaron Prelock:
I tried to preach Leviticus in three sermons once…barely scratched the surface.
I’d love to hear those, or at least know what approach you took. Did you read large portions of Leviticus each morning?
I’ll have to look at my notes to confirm, but I think I focused on three separate themes with a support chapter for each.
- God is holy.
- Sin defiles us.
- We need atonement.
It was something like that.
I found a plan for a five-part series on Leviticus, but I’m not sure if it’s a draft outline or what I actually preached. I thought my series was:
- God is holy (Leviticus 10).
- Sin defiles us (Leviticus 18-19).
- We need atonement (Leviticus 16).
Also think I preached a Good Friday sermon from Leviticus 16 somewhere in there…
But the draft outline I found had:
- Holiness in our mindset (Leviticus 16)
- Holiness with our bodies (Leviticus 18, 20)
- Holiness with our neighbour (Leviticus 19)
- Holiness with our possessions (Leviticus 1-7)
- Holiness into our future (Leviticus 25)
This was an evening sermon series, so we would have read a whole chapter of Leviticus in the morning service. Then I’d reference that passage and pick a few key verses for the PM sermon. Hope that helps.
