I read Johnny Tremain for either 5th or 6th grade and loved it. In fact, I read it 2 more times the same year. I haven’t read it since though, and was trying to remember why I enjoyed it so much at that age, when (according to you guys) it’s universally loathed by schoolkids. Maybe it would be clear to me if I reread the book, but it holds such fond memories for me, and I’ve always been afraid it wouldn’t hold up as an adult. That’s been the case with so many books I enjoyed as a boy. After listening to this episode though, you may have convinced me to give it a shot.
