Pastors who preferred books and theological esoterica to pastoral care were not grateful for Jim. He was too helpful to humble souls, and he had too much notoriety for the prig theologues and hipster church planters to admit they’d heard of him.
My mom was one of those humble souls helped by Dobson and Focus on the Family. I grew up hearing his voice from our car radio. That and Adventures in Odyssey. Thank God for Dr. James Dobson

Thank you for writing this, Tim. It didn’t take very long into Christianity Today’s obituary before they were complaining about his politics and quoting an egalitarian historian (Kristen Du Mez who wrote Jesus & John Wayne) to make sure readers would dismiss him. What you wrote helped me understand why.
