What’s astounding is how few pastors assiduously teach and preach against infant (paedo) communion. They know it’s sacramentalism. They know both Protestants and Roman Catholics have always condemned it. They know it’s spreading through their churches. Yet pastors are silent.
Come on, Tim. Post on politics. The lines drawn there are so much more clear. The church isn’t in danger. Forget neutered Bibles & sacramentalism & birth control & male authority & effeminacy & Revoice & pulpiteering.
It’s our nation that is in peril. Make America great again!
Even after three years with Jesus, the disciples were looking for Jesus to give them political restoration; to bring in a kingdom of God which would return their nation to its King David glory. That was what the Messiah was all about, wasn’t it?
So after His Resurrection, they were asking, “Lord, is it at this time You are restoring the kingdom to Israel?”
What was Jesus’ answer? Did He give them all hats that said “Make Israel great again!”?
No, but rather, “It is not for you to know times or epochs which the Father has fixed by His own authority; but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth" (Acts 1).
Not “Make America Great Again.” Not restoring PresTrump to the White House. Jesus didn’t announce the restoration of Jewish exceptionalism.
Rather, his Twelve were to be His witnesses “to the ends of the earth.”
Christian exceptionalism is true, but it’s never been nationalism. That was the Disciples fundamental error.
It is the Church that is the “Jerusalem from above,” and this is the true and only Christian exceptionalism.
Augustine’s mighty “City of God” wasn’t the Roman Empire, but the Church. Preach this at church Sunday. Relegate America and preach the true Kingdom of God. Preach it again on the Fourth of July.
Preach against this pernicious “political temptation” which never stops seducing God’s people. #goodshepherd
Christian exceptionalism is true, but it’s never been nationalism. That was the Disciples’ fundamental error.
It is the Church that is the “Jerusalem from above,” and this is the true and only Christian exceptionalism. It is the Church that is the City of God, the Kingdom of God.
What is the alternative to Christian Nationalism? The Church! Watch this history of one of Evangel Presbytery’s congregations. So strong… https://youtu.be/5aWornDYcC8?feature=shared
Just received this text: "Eric Trump: I need you to publicly stand with my father! Your endorsement would mean the world to him. STAND WITH TRUMP: tnc24.co/hPJvD9f
Can you even imagine Hunter Biden sending this out?
My relatives promoting VPHarris, and one of them defends VPHarris saying “GOD is for the POOR.”
Oh yeah!
I respond, “What about abortion? What about the billions of poor children being murdered?”
She says, “Except for abortion.”
Right.
Here we have American Evangelicals today. Pristine in their self-righteousness. They will NOT vote for PresTrump.
Such high principles.
To a commenter below who is mortified that any Christian would vote for PresTrump, and who linked to a very long letter her pastor sent his congregation saying that no Christian should ever vote for PresTrump because he is a sinner (including not really being pro-life), I responded:
Your pastor’s letter is mostly true, but he utterly fails to make his case that it’s sin for Christians (or anyone, for that matter) to vote for PresTrump. Neither choosing a head of lettuce nor voting are confessions of faith.
I could add a bunch of things to his list of bad things about PresTrump. It would be easy to come up with a bunch, but so what? The whole process is inane.
Concerning states, nations, and politics this sort of perfectionism is ridiculous. All of us have spent many years voting for men who ran on a pro-life platform, but weren’t pro-life. We call this “voting Republican.”
Christians aren’t nearly as clean as we think we are. Not nearly.
If VPHarris wins, it’s men who put her over the top. Every woman voting for VPHarris had a father, brother, or husband who failed her. Having run from our authority, we have only ourselves to blame. It is our shame that “women rule over us” (Isaiah 3:12). Oprah, Lady Gaga bring back the joy in Kamala Harris' final rally
