We’ve all said one of four women named in Matthew’s genealogy of Christ is “Bathsheba.” Some Bibles add her name, but it isn’t in the text.
What text actually says? “David was the father of Solomon by her of Uriah.” Most Bibles add “wife” but “wife” also is not in the text. Errrr. Ummm.

“Mutual submission” is to submission
as
“Servant leadership” is to authority.
Yesterday’s sermon (I’m out of state) spoke of the “mutual submission” of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit being demonstrated by Jesus’ agony and prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane.
When Carl Trueman and Liam Goligher got done with their revision of Trinitarian orthodoxy, simple pastors ran scared and started shouting “mutual submission” everywhere. Scared out of their everliving minds that someone would smear them as “ESS,” we’re now left with Jesus’ prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane being proof of “mutual submission.” This is where feminists like Carl and Liam have driven the Church today.

Equality and distinction are not contradictory, nor even inimical, to each other. Brown vs. Board of Education is no lesson in Nicene Trinitarianism except among American Evangelical feminists.
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are perfectly equal and perfectly distinct Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. There is never a time when the Father is not the Father to His Son and never a time when the Son is not Son to His Father.

He converted to Roman Catholicism, then again to Eastern Orthodoxy, and now Rod Dreher is into “enchantment.” A “mountain is in some real sense an icon of God, something that participates in His being and discloses it.”
We’re to “retrieve the sacramental ontology of the pre-modern tradition.”
Well now, what Scripture has to teach us about mountains is that God came down on Mt. Sinai, and His presence there made the mountain holy and fatal. Also that Jesus sat down on the mountain and preached, feeding the sheep.
Brothers, do not be seduced by wordsmiths making a living off gabbing about stuff like ontology and EO’s deep numinosity. Sure you find it appealing, but our Lord’s command is “Seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness.”
Leave it to the Spirit of God Himself whether you receive a vision or dream from Him. Meanwhile, work, worship, and pray.

When reformed pastors refuse to preach God’s holiness and man’s depravity; when we refuse to preach God’s law and repentance; of course we’ll lose the souls God called us to feed.
They’ll spit us out and choose Roman Catholicism’s sacramentalism and Eastern Orthodoxy’s icons and enchantment. We must repent ourselves for abandoning our sheep for the sake of money, numbers, and reputation.

PresTrump lost the debate, and my wife was disappointed by his performance, but I tried to explain that no man can ever win a fight with woman. But more, only effeminate/gay men will fight woman. True men are constitutionally incapable of it. It’s how God made us.
Actually, I used more graphic words to describe “woman,” seeking to put a very fine point on it.

Maybe NYU Steinhardt could produce another reverse-role performance of the debate. Their last one was illuminating to many who couldn’t comprehend the Trump/Clinton debate dynamics.

In X, one reader wrote under my post on PresTrump’s debate with VPHarris: “Trump had no trouble taking on & defeating Carly, Hillary, & Nikki. He delights in using offensive nicknames to attack his women foes. Trump’s debate loss wasn’t about gender dynamics. It was DJT’s diminished mental dexterity & always fragile ego that led to his brutal defeat.”
TO which I responded: “Well said. I think you’re right and I’m wrong.”
