Session of Tenth Presbyterian Church (Presbyterian Church in America) has utterly betrayed their trust to guard their sheep. For them to present themselves now as “lovers” of their sheep and the adults in the room who can be trusted—making this claim in the wake of (only) their most recent scandal of Goligher’s abandonment of his call—is ludicrous and should immediately be shut down by both the congregation and Philadelphia Presbytery. For the protection of Tenth’s sheep. For the protection of the Name of Christ.
Whatever the elders thought they were calling a congregational meeting to act on, members of Tenth’s congregation must not let them continue to lead.
The congregation of Tenth needs to call its own special congregational meeting (BCO 25-2) for the purpose of requesting the resignations of the entire board of elders, and also to petition presbytery to come in and assume original jurisdiction.
Don’t wait. Get a group together to sign such a call for a special congregational meeting for these purposes above. The session is focussed on control and their own reputations. They tell you they love you, but you love them and would prove your love for them by requesting their resignations. Their decade-long incompetence and lies are a national scandal needing immediate correction. The G.R.A.C.E. Report documents a good bit of it. Yes, it’s painful, but get it done.
These BCO provisions cited above have a purpose, and if Tenth’s present scandalous condition doesn’t rise to the level of qualifying for the use of these provisions calling in a higher authority to handle scandal, no church scandal ever will.
Session should have been replaced long ago. That they still haven’t is the real scandal at Tenth, now—not Ryken/Jones or Goligher/GRACE Report.
