Cultivating the freedom in your home for teens to communicate/talk with Mom and Dad about whatever is on their mind is extremely important. Teens do need space to individuate and appreciate the space you give them, but if you have cultivated good and helpful freedom to talk openly, they will realize they can always come and talk to you for wisdom and advice.
