To pile on the “They understand more than you think” bandwagon, when N. D. Wilson was a tot still in his high chair, his dad would read to the family from books like Lord of the Rings. His mom wondered if little Nate could really be getting anything out of it, and his dad replied, “Watch him. His face gets all red during the battle scenes.” They kept reading to him, of course!
