Probably better to describe them as rumors as yet, right? I couldn’t find any source for the claim, half an hour ago.
But yeah, denying that could have any potential connection to motive is absurd.
Thought abt that when posting, but decided “reports” are supposedly only by legacy media and “rumors” by people without legacy media credentials—which distinction I reject. Read this piece by Glenn Greenwald about the Pulse nightclub shootings and media coverup of the sexual angle of it.
Then there was the Covenant/Nashville school shooting where media was denying, then declaring and denying (based on precise definitions they made up) the murderer was trans.
When murderers shoot lots of people, their sexuality matters a lot and should be researched and reported accurately. And it’s been hidden in the past by the media, most notoriously concerning the Miami Pulse nighclub.
As to these reports, they are the cause of the Police Chief’s declaration it didn’t/doesn’t matter. Also, WI-Democratic Rep. Mark Pocan—chair of the Congressional Equality Caucus whose purpose is to advance LGBTQ equality—on Tuesday acknowledged the reports, responding to those saying she was transgender: “To all the idiots who claimed the shooter was trans with no information whatsoever to believe that, f‑‑‑ off."
Whether or not she/he/they was trans, social media would do its best to squelch any reports/claims/rumors of that. This is the point. They say the reports are false and, anyway, it doesn’t matter. Love,
