I won’t belabor the point. I appreciate the discussion! Our church has a wonderful missionary couple who have served in Israel for decades, teaching mostly Palestinian students at schools they have started there. It has been interesting to hear their perspective when they come home on leave. I used to be a gung-ho Israel supporter but speaking with them has opened my eyes quite a bit. There is a great deal of terror on both sides.

Agreed. For decades, said one of the reasons I respected Elisabeth Elliot was her defense of Palestinians in the Evangelical dispensational world, pointing out that some of them are brothers and sisters in Christ. Love,

After reading her biographies, I’ve been wishing I could get my hands on her out of print book, The Furnace of the Lord.

Until we realize essence of Phariseeism is scrupulosity abt outside of cup while hiding vile filth inside of cup, we don’t begin to understand Gospel Coalition/Wheaton/PCA pact with LGBTQers who promise they won’t copulate or marry, and isn’t that enough? GC/PCA say “Yes.”

Antioch shows church conflict & need for place to ask for help (Acts 15). This is meaning of presbyteries. Place of love & fellowship & trust. Forget national denominations. Pastors alone or w/congregation can simply join a presbytery https://evangelpresbytery.com/

Reading final chapter Bucer’s Pastoral Care on sheep’s duty to obey their shepherd, struck me how 2day any pastor preaching obedience 2 authority of pastors/elders touches 3rd rail. How we hate authority! How desperate those of us w/authority r to deny we have any. #goodshepherd

Some thoughts on “Postmillennialism, paedocommunion, Lord’s table liturgies, and God’s loving discipline” Out of Our Minds - Warhorn Media

Why warn against Moscow doctrine/practice publicly, now, when for decades my warnings were largely expressed to them personally/privately? Lewis in “That Hideous Strength”:

“Have you ever noticed,” said Dimble, “that the universe, and every bit of the universe is always hardening and narrowing and coming to a point?”

His wife waited as those wait who know by long experience the mental processes of the person who is talking to them.

“I mean this,” said Dimble in answer to the question she had not asked. “If you dip into any college, or school, or parish, or family – anything you like – at a given point in its history, you always find that there was a time before that point when there was more elbow room and contrasts weren’t quite so sharp; and that there’s going to be a time after that point when there is even less room for indecision and choices are even more momentous. Good is always getting better and bad is always getting worse: the possibilities of even apparent neutrality are always diminishing. The whole thing is sorting itself out all the time, coming to a point, getting sharper and harder.”

Who has been warned against their schism more than Moscow? By whole denominations, churches, presbyteries, and loving brothers. Warnings dismissed. Very sad. HT Andrew H

On the bulletin board in our stairwell, Dad had a sign, “I used to say I was always right, but one time I said I was wrong and it turned out I was right.”

Dad was joking and his wife and kids knew it.

Would your wife and kids know you were joking?

Apostle Paul’s hope? “Who loved me and gave Himself up for me.” Getting older, what’s difficult is my sins. Past and present—how could I not be done w/them? But then, He loved me and gave Himself up for me. More love to Jesus. #Jesussaves

Dear friend or brother, your real problem isn’t your wife or boss or son or President Biden. Your real problem is yourself. Stop blaming others. Look at your own sin and flee to Jesus. He came for sinners like us. He will wash you in His Own blood. Repent and believe. #Jesussaves

“Good deposit” indicates responsibility to One Who made that deposit. “Deposit” doubles down on “entrusted to you.”

We don’t confess our faith in Jesus Christ by proving we’re right, but declaring we’re wrong. First to our wife. Then to our sons and daughters.

Jesus warned He didn’t come to save the righteous. #Christianrepentance
