True Islamist nationalism is fruitful marriages. Europe is now filled with kebab stands.

Some evidence for the UK is here:

Is it true there is a ‘startling’ rise in the birthrate of British Muslims? | UK news | The Guardian

In time, though, modernity and post-modernity will prove to be as corrosive to Muslim faith commitment as it has been for Christian faith commitment, but that is a discussion for another thread.

If God promises blessings to those who trust in Him, why would I rather trust myself? Answer me that, pls.

The true parallel, as I’ve seen it, is men who are single and of a certain age making friendships with young hunks in the church. These brothers are to be watched over by asking them why they are choosing friendship with good-looking younger men. Always talk to sexually dysphoric men about who they choose as male friends, even if they’ve never confessed to sodomitic temptations.

Yes, there’s a big case of exactly this atm in the UK, with a leader in a big Charismatic Anglican ministry who has now been exposed as a serial abuser. He is single, and his behaviour with a lot of young men - almost always from vulnerable or traumatised backgrounds - was simply not recognised as being abusive. Alarmingly, he always claimed that his celibacy was essential to his ministry.

If you need to know more, google the name, “Mike Pilavachi”.

Tell the truth, his description of the climate of Roman congregations is what I’ve experienced & found a relief after typical reformed services w/prissy cultural pretensions. Letter from Tolkien to son:

"I can recommend this as an exercise…: make your Communion in circumstances that affront your taste. Choose a snuffling or gabbling priest or a proud and vulgar friar; and a church full of the usual bourgeois crowd, ill-behaved children—from those who yell to those products of Catholic schools who the moment the tabernacle is opened sit back and yawn—open-necked and dirty youths, women in trousers and often with hair both unkempt and uncovered.

Go to Communion with them (and pray for them). It will be just the same (or better than that) as a mass said beautifully by a visibly holy man, and shared by a few devout and decorous people. It could not be worse than the mess of the feeding of the Five Thousand—after which our Lord propounded the feeding that was to come."

Just another proof higher education is oxymoron. Parents pay uni tuition for profs to corrupt their children, turning them into rich, stupid, soulless voters. (How else could any Christian understand the Democratic Party?)

Truthfully, it’s long been my conviction there is no more evil influence in the developed world than this “higher education.” Anything we can do to break its determined destruction of reason, logic, intellect, and truth in the world today is warranted. ‘This Is a Really Big Deal’: How College Towns Are Decimating the GOP - POLITICO

Thanks for sharing this. Some of their data didn’t match their thesis, but what else is new? (Reporters are, as a rule, innumerate.)

But you are 100% correct that the power of universities needs to be broken. The fact that Republican governors and legislators have let these institutions fester, acting hostile towards their host populations in red states, is a scandal. Ron DeSantis has made some good actions in Florida, but the political power of the universities must be broken. Establishing a test-out option for at least some university degrees would do nicely, I think.

When Scripture tells us “no,” it’s because we need it. “Do not despise the Lord’s discipline.”

“Do not” means we despise the Lord’s discipline and need to stop it. Listen to the Lord’s discipline in your pastor’s sermon today. Don’t despise it. The Lord loves you.

Oh, one might not need a Roman church for an exercise like this. I would steer those Reformed congregations “with prissy cultural pretensions” in the direction of a rough-around-the-edges working-class Fundamentalist church, or an even-rougher-around-the edges working-class Pentecostal one.

Phobias are irrational fears. Elites never speak of “climate change phobia,” “Trump phobia,” or “Putinphobia” b/c climate change, President Trump, and President Putin scare them half to death.

“Homophobia” has legs b/c elites scoff at the Only True God Who declared sodomy an “abomination” and warned neither men who lie with men nor effeminates will be allowed into Heaven. “Scaredy cats” they say to Christians who flee the wickedness they embrace. Time will tell. #fleeGodswrath Homophobic business owners lean into Supreme Court decision.

Secularist worships creation rather than Creator. God has given him over to degraded perversions. Secularist’s only hope is Christians warning of God’s judgment. Christian, don’t grow weary. Like the Apostle Paul, we believe and therefore we speak. #Christianwitness

When your pastor preaches God’s law and calls you to repent, this man is very positive & hopeful. The pastor who doesn’t preach God’s law and doesn’t call us to repent is cynical and hopeless. #goodshepherd

Always find that cleansing part shocking. Did God really just promise that? What Christian doesn’t cling to it?

A sense of sin is almost totally lacking. Our situation is thus very different from that of the Apostles. The Pagans to whom they preached were haunted by a sense of guilt and to them the Gospel was, therefore, “Good News”.

C.S. Lewis - in 1945. And, of course, it is by the preaching of the Law that that sense of sin is awakened. One challenge we have is reminding Christians of that sense of sin.

It’s since occurred to me that in the background I came from, when there were Gospel messages (which was fairly frequent), the preachers took that sense of sin for granted. Maybe our mistake is that we are doing the same? Anyway, as always, open to others’ take on things.
