Audio recording of “The Great Commission: all authority.”

Audio recording now posted:

"Now in connection with the current fad of political action making the rounds of youngsters within the conservative church today, let me make the obvious point that everything going on in these United States right now, from our White House to our Congress and Supreme Court down to our state capitals and governors’ mansions, down to our mayors and school districts’ superintendents, even to the words squawking in our police cars and the smiles and frowns of our crossing guards; everywhere, the product of our own pulpits is eminently visible.

“Pastors are the prow and this nation is their ship.”

Libs’ “abundance” movement is as hopeful as libs’ nanny state is shameful State Capacity and Eight Parking Spaces | Aaron Brethorst

From “Church Refomed”

Those who are “diligent” in their search for God will attend the preaching of the Word each Lord’s Day among God’s people assembled for worship. Those who hunger and thirst after righteousness will be there, and they’ll be attentive. On the other hand, the unteachable proud man who refuses to eat out of another man’s hand will not be there. Or, if his body is present, his mind and heart will be far away.

We cannot devote ourselves to the teaching of the apostles if we neglect the assembly of believers or attend that assembly with pride ruling our minds and hearts. We cannot devote ourselves to the teaching of the apostles if we are resistant to being fed the bread of life by a sinner like us with feet of clay.

God could have chosen another way. He could have used angels, yet it pleased Him to use sinful men. So says the Reformer John Calvin:

He could indeed do it . . . by the angels; but there are many reasons why he prefers to do it by means of men. . . . this is the best and most useful exercise in humility, when he accustoms us to obey his Word, even though it be preached through men like us and sometimes even by those of lower worth than we. . . .Further, nothing fosters mutual love more fittingly than for men to be bound together with this bond: one is appointed pastor to teach the rest, and those bidden to be pupils receive the common teaching from one mouth. (Footnote 6)

“Nothing fosters mutual love more fittingly” than God’s people being fed by a man who is their inferior. Our love for God, for His Church, and for the men He has called to preach to us are inseparably bound together by God’s own decree. As our Lord Himself said concerning the preaching office, ‘The one who listens to you listens to Me, and the one who rejects you rejects Me; and he who rejects Me rejects the One who sent Me.’" (Calvin, Institutes 4.3.1.)

So although we have the teaching of the apostles recorded in the pages of the New Testament, devotion to their teaching is not simply devotion to a printed Bible—even reading through the Bible each year. Rather, devotion to the apostles’ teaching is devotion to the Word of God publicly proclaimed within the assembly by a man called by God to that work. This fallen man has been set apart by the laying on of hands and prayer to fulfill the office of pastor.

For many of us, if Doug Wilson hadn’t been warning against the sins of our nation through his magazine and blog the past few decades, this world would have been even more intolerable. It’s not his birthday and he’s not abt to die, so it’s a good time to honor him. Thank you, Doug

This baby was conceived in 1994, then banished to a freezer prison until he was adopted and released to a warm womb where he was allowed to grow. He was given birth on July 26, 2025. A year from now, he will celebrate his 1st, but really his 32nd, birthday.

How wonderful the adoption finally releasing him from his 31 year imprisonment! World’s ‘oldest baby’ born from embryo frozen in 1994

There are those who speak against the adoption of little ones imprisoned in freezers saying such adoptions are bad “ethically” and inevitably entail supportive involvement in the IVF industry.

Just said to me on socials in connection with the post about the baby born who is thirty-one years old already, and I responded:

A life imprisoned is a life. Period. “Rescue the perishing,” Scripture commands those who belong to God. What more compassionate act of love for Jesus could one find than offering a little one imprisoned in a freezer one’s own warm and nurturing womb? Inasmuch as we do it to the least of these, we do it to Him. Adoption of these little ones is godliness.

In most democracies. the leaders of fixed principle have now departed, leaving their standards to flexible pragmatists preoccupied with the discovery of consensus, and survival through use of the alluring but dangerous doctrine that a leader can serve a people well by reflecting them.

Good news for babies: President Trump is not finding a way forward to fulfilling his campaign promise to fund IVF. Talk to your Senator and Rep saying you’re opposed to Obamacare funding IVF because it imprisons and kills babies. MSN

On summer vacation, I learned Israelis are neo-nazis slaughtering innocent Palestinians. To college-educated Americans Gaza is simple: Israel is evil. All you have to do is read the New York Times. To growing # of uneducated American men, Jews are &$@#*^%$#%@&%#!!!

As Huck Finn puts it, “Hain’t we got all the fools in town on our side? And hain’t that a big enough majority in any town?”
Worldwide media ran pics of screaming mothers waving pans desperate to feed starving children. Then German media broke story pics carefully staged: German Media Investigation Reveals Gaza Photographer Staged Images of Despair, Prompting Agencies to Cut Ties | Algemeiner.com

God created Eve for Adam, not Steve. The chattering class will blame the epidemic of same-sex partner violence on heterosexist norms, but they’re wrong. The abuse between same-sex partners testifies to God’s blessed gift of female and male. We attack it to our own destruction.

Start with the negative.

New Geneva Academy rejects the old seminary model of training pastors. Jesus’ model is apprenticeship. The disciples spent 3 years immersed in an expert practice ecosystem—with Jesus the expert they watched and copied.

Seminary is the old model where men spend 3 years immersed in the expert practice ecosystem of higher education. Scholars have their place, but pastors should never be given over to scholars for training to shepherd God’s flock.

Men preparing to preach and shepherd need to apprentice themselves to journeyman pastors. They should learn by reading with pastors, watching them shepherd, then copying these tradesmen they will replace. This is how Evangel Presbytery’s pastors were trained, and now they’re training their own men the same way.

The Great Commission (2): Authority and authoritarianism

“Today, all of us hate and defy any authority that we ourselves are not exercising. We greet declarations of authority with hoots and catcalls. Maybe we are channelling the scepticism of the Eleven when Jesus proclaimed His authority, then told them to go and make Him disciples…”

Pastors spend their lives working to solve conflict, so we know conflict lives off lies. Starve lies, feed the peace.

Whether conflict is marital, congregational, political, or war, both sides lie abt their enemy.

We choose our side BEFORE we repeat their lies. They Became Symbols for Gazan Starvation. But All 12 Suffer from Other Health Problems.

The solution to our Christian nation’s civic, legal, judicial, moral, and doctrinal degradation is not getting the electorate to put Christian Nationalists in office so they can pass laws which are Biblical and reverse the rot.

Yes, that is needed and would be a great blessing to every citizen and immigrant in our nation, but how does Scripture tell us to restore a Christian people—say Israel and Judah and England—to righteousness? How does Scripture tell any people to do it? May God bless the people of England and America once more - Warhorn Media

A company’s culture is a benefit until it isn’t. It’s what differentiates you until it kills you. It’s why you win until it’s why you lose. …it happens slowly, then all at once. It often feels like you have no choice, especially if the CEO is a manager and not a founder, because founders are often the only ones who can make such impossibly hard decisions to kill cash cows while the milk is still flowing.
