Exactly what i was going to say. California is the homecoming queen while Indiana is a plain Jane state by comparison.
I don’t want to leave but I get how it is.

What’s noteworthy about this piece is that Aaron chose the same church Gov. Daniels chose, Tabernacle Presbyterian, which is the host of all the worst mainliners, with the added benefit of woman pastor(s). This is why I never expected anything remotely Biblical from Gov. Daniels, and he didn’t disappoint.
But I did tell a Republican political operative in Iowa just before the Iowa Caucus, who called to ask, that I would support Gov. Daniels for the presidency if he ran. (I knew from inside sources he wouldn’t, and why not is a story that made me respect Gov. Daniels even more, but that story will not be told.) The operative was surprised because of Gov. Daniels’s antipathy to any moral principles visible in him, other than fiscally. The operative was Christian and Presbyterian—actually, he was a relative of Joel Belz—and I explained that I was done with ever hoping for anything moral from Republicans so that, now, my highest aspirations in voting for any Republican was that he had some small commitment to fiscal conservatism, and thus would at least hold back government agencies from doing as much damage as they would otherwise.
The good thing about Gov. Daniels was his honesty that he didn’t fear God or care about His law, although he never said it that directly. This as opposed to Reagan, Bush I, Bush II, etc. Love,
Renn is very tuned in to what people are saying about his writings. If it were me I don’t think I’d be able to stick with the truth if I paid so much attention to people’s reactions. I don’t know how any pastor would have the courage to stick with the truth while paying so much attention to people’s reactions.
Renn’s positions have so far given him a swell of popularity with a group of people that includes me; but for him to endure he will have to make his peace with being scorned and rejected by those he most wants to be well thought of by. It remains to be seen where Renn will land when the choice is between what he might see as “continued relevance” and continued faithfulness to the truth.
